In an effort to spread awareness about ocean pollution, CM1 student Zuzanna W. started an organization that works on sharing knowledge and creating programs focused on ocean literacy in Poland.
"Thriving Corals is a teen-led project that works to preserve the underwater world. In 2019, in Poland, it all started when I felt the need to start action around ocean pollution. The initial idea was just to paint a mural at my school, but now we are an organization with multiple programs and initiatives running."
The project is founded on the idea that science and art can contribute to a better future for the world. With scientific knowledge, a bit of creativity, and a whole lot of brainstorming, we can bring the underwater world closer to those who have never seen it - the more you know, the more you care.
"Through programs like our online courses and Instagram campaigns, we convey both knowledge-based on ocean literacy principles and parts of science + art. Bringing the three components together, we strive to create a learning environment that will enable others to support our oceans' wellbeing."
